Cleaning Potpourri Outside
Ever wonder what to do with a beautiful basket of Potpourri when it gets dusty?
When your potpourri gets dusty, empty it into a saved mesh bag left from when you purchased oranges, onions or other fruits or vegetables. Wash and dry the mesh bag before using for your potpourri cleaning.
It works great to do this project outside in the grass, so when you pour the potpourri into the mesh bag any small pieces that fall through the holes will just go into the grass. Once all the potpourri is in the bag, secure the open end and gently shake. You can also lightly mist the potpourri with tap water in a spray bottle. Just to moisten the pieces and then dry completely before placing back into the basket or container you display your potpourri in.
If the scent has faded, you can add a couple drops of your favorite essential oil onto the potpourri. Making sure to protect countertops or furniture if you are using a basket. Suggestion: Add a couple drops of your favorite essential oil to a small piece of cotton fabric and place it towards the bottom of your basket and cover with the cleaned potpourri.
Cleaning Potpourri Inside
If doing this outside isn’t an option, empty the potpourri into your mesh bag over a plastic table cloth that you can fold and empty into the garbage when you are done. Or, how about putting the drain plug in your bathtub and doing this in the tub, then vacuum any debris left in the tub. This may freshen your vacuum cleaner at the same time.
Have fun with it and enjoy the fresh aroma this DIY project provides.
